Science, technology, engineering and maths ambassadors have the unique opportunity to inspire children and young people in the STEM subjects. By becoming a STEM Ambassador you would be able to fullfil a vital role by sharing your passion for the subject.
STEM Ambassadors come from a number of backgrounds, if you have experience working in a STEM related job then you too can help inspire the next generation.
Until recently STEM Ambassadors were known as SEAs but to reflect the inclusion of mathematics in the STEM disciplines the name has been changed.
What do STEM Ambassadors do?
Ambassadors can get involved in a number of diverse and innovative projects such as:
- Delivering activities such as Science and Engineering clubs or other extra curricular activities
- Helping teachers to deliver the curriculum in schools
- Offering mentoring and careers talks
- Acting as a role model to young learners
- Providing work-based placements for teachers and students
Benefits of being a STEM Ambassador
The benefits of becoming an ambassador are not one way and through this scheme you will be able to gain a fresh perspective on your day-to-day work through the eyes of the students. You will be able to make a difference in your local community. It will also enable you to develop your communication, planning and presentation skills. It can also be great fun!
