Southampton University’s Lightwave
We are a free roadshow that provides hour long workshops for thirty children that involves splitting them into four groups and giving them fifteen minutes at each of the four hands on workstations. We can tailor the level of the activities to the age of the children and all of them are a fun mix of experiments and demonstrations that hopefully, will encourage the children to love science as much as we do, learn a bit about optics and realise how fascinating the world really is. Our topics are mirrors, lenses, the eye, the spectrum, optical illusions and communicating with light. Examples of some of the activities are: the mirror maze, make a water optical fibre, the mirage maker and the UV cave.
