Planetarium SHOW LIST

We are showing four film shows in our current regular schedule:

Astronaut
(film show, 22 min)

The exploration of space is the greatest endeavour that humankind has ever undertaken. What does it take to be part of this incredible journey? What does it take to become an astronaut?

Experience a rocket launch from inside the body of an astronaut. Explore the amazing worlds of inner and outer space, from floating around the International Space Station to manoeuvring through microscopic regions of the human body. Narrated by Ewan McGregor.

A great fun family show.

Black Holes: The Other Side of Infinity
(film show, 25 min)

Cross the cosmic threshold into the bizarre realm of a black hole. Stunning graphics take you to the beginning of the Universe and let you watch colliding galaxies before showing you what it might be like to actually fall into a black hole. Narrated by Liam Neeson.

This show has slightly more complicated science than our others and amazing graphics!

Cosmic Journey III
(film show, 22 min)

Go on a tour of the solar system, discovering icy worlds, speeding comets and eerie moons. Explore the places where alien life might be lurking close to Earth, and find out why there really is no place like home.

A lovely gentle show.

We are Astronomers: many eyes make light work
(film show, 24min)

Do you know what an astronomer does? Today's astronomer is not the lone observer of past centuries. Revealing the global collaboration, technology and dedication required to answer the unresolved questions of the universe.

Narrated by David Tennant.

A stylish show, great for teens.

We are Astronomers is the result of a collaboration between seven UK planetariums (including INTECH) with funding from the Science and Technology Facilities Council and input from UK astronomers.

See clips and info on the show's website and twitter feed.

Please be aware that "Astronaut" and "We are Astronomers" both contain scenes with flashing lights which may not be appropriate for photosensitive epileptics.

And as a summer special we will be showing:

Kaluoka'hina: The Enchanted Reef  (film show, 30min)

18 July to 5 Sept only

The vastness of our planet's oceans guards unimaginable secrets. One of its most precious is "Kaluoka'hina", the enchanted reef whose magic protects it against humans finding it. Kaluoka'hina's colorful inhabitants have thus always lived in peace... until the volcano erupts, and the spell is broken. website or download clips

Now it's up to the young sawfish Jake and his paranoid pal Shorty to restore the magic of Kaluoka'hina. Their only lead: the ancient legend that tells of touching the moon.

But how is a fish supposed to touch the moon? This is just one of the intriguing puzzles that Jake and Shorty have to solve on their most exciting adventure ever: the quest to save their beloved reef.

A fun kid's show.
